Track Expenses according to Item

Hello,

How can i track an Item according to the expenses or vice versa. I am into the car business and am using quickbooks.

How can i track expenses according to a particular car. I have setup the cars as an Item in the inventory. Is there a way to do that in quickbooks? I will appreciate if someone can help me out in this situation.

Couple of choices:

-add the major expenses to the inventory as additions -this will throw out the item count, but you will know you only have one car and the carrying cost will be accurate.

-set up each car as a class as well and post the expenses for that car to the class-then the P and L by class report will give you the information you want
