We have two computers running Quickbooks. One is on a DSL line the other on a slow phoneline. Updating the phone line computer is next to impossible. Is there a method to transfer the updated program from the DSL computer to the phone line computer?

You can manually download the update. What version do you have?

Download the update installer on the DSL machine and copy it to (CD-R, CD-RW, etc).
Configure the update function to share updates. Doing so will automatically update workstations not connected to the internet when they access the data file for the first time after a download.
