I only have a dialup connection so getting updates is a slow process. IF I were to backup my program to disk, restore that disk on to a DSL computer, get my updates, backup the updated program to disk and than restore it back onto my dialup computer, would I have the updates? In other words does the backup include the program and updates as well as the data?

No. Backups only include the company data file. You can do updates on a DSL computer and specify that you wish to share the updates. This leaves the files on your computer so that you can transfer them to the other computer.
If you have DSL why not get a router so that the other computer can use the DSL connection?
