this morning with no change to the rev letter or explanation....
Hi, Clark.
I just now (7/18/05, 8:40am CST (GMT -0600)) did a one-step update for my Q2005 Basic R3. No update that I can see. Still says Q2005 Basic R3.

I haven't see a program update either. Still Q05r3. Somewhere I believe there is a log that tells what's going on but I couln't find it. That would show an update being applied.
Possibly
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Log\update.log
That's the problem. Intuit has been rolling out these updates without changing the rev letter. I have Quicken Deluxe R3.
Someone mentioned that in the past these have just been financial institution updates for the online banking function, but who knows?
QW Deluxe, R3...
For the record, I also got the 'update' - was at R3, still am at R3.
The only thing in my log for this morning are the following:
Mon Jul 18 06:07:02 2005
I don't see an update.log in that directory, but there is a CONNLOG.TXT that has good info. Still, no updates in sight.
I got the same update, and while it was updating, the box that popped up said "updating financial institution data" (or words to that effect). I have noticed the same thing in the past also.

What's "the problem"? This has been happening for a long time. I fail to understand what the "problem" is.
Exactly. Who knows? Since no one does know, since no one can know, why ask?
The problem is that rolling out updates without explaining what the update is for is poor form at best.
Puhleeze. Intuit is not going to send you a message for every little patch they apply. Never have as far as I know.
Sure they have - when they acknowledge the change by rolling the rev number. Here's just one example:
What I don't like is when they push out a change without rolling the rev number and don't explain what the change is for.
Ditto.
I wish updates to my car were silently rolled in and installed. I don't want to know about it. Of course, if it stops working, that's another problem.
Do you want to know everytime they add/subtract a financial institution? Thats what is included in most of these updates. If there was a significant program change, then they would change the version number.
I said "patch", not revision; I know they give some info about revisions. I believe there have been hundreds of "patches" to the versions of Quicken over the years which have never been accompanied by any explanation or announcement whatsoever (and by my definition, a "patch" is not a revision and does not increment the revision number).
