anyone have nitty, gritty details of what the "Minimum Gain" Lot Identification method does?

Q Help file & online search both yield surprisingly little detail: "Minimum Gain sells the shares that will result in the least capital gain, independent of lot."

I recently found out that I've got a brokerage account that uses the High Cost method of lot specification.

High Cost sounds like it "could" be Minimum Gain, but Minimum Gain might grab shares that are closest in cost basis to the sale price, not the highest price shares.

Anyone know where the algorithm is or have some practical experience w/ Minimum Gain?

Minimum Gain?

OK, I'll answer my own question.

I had to adjust several Sell transactions for a FI that uses High Cost. Af ter observing which shares Q selected when I clicked on Minimum Gain, it ap pears to be equivalent to High Cost. There is no optimization to minimize the gain by finding the shares that are closest to the sale price. It simp ly selects the shares with the highest purchase price.
