Has anyone heard the phrase GTZ? What does it stand for?

Hi all:I've heard the term GTZ used to describe a never setting dollar or othercurrency total in a POS device, used to track total value of sales entered.Has anyone here heard the same term and if so does anyone know what itstands for?Does Microsoft's POS application have a GTZ?Out of the clouds, truly,John C.

I imagine it stands for Grand Total Z.  Normally a "Z" report is taken at the end of each day.  This resets all of the totals except the Grand Total Z which is a non-resettable total, normally includes voids, error corrections, etc.  It is a control total.  Lets say a clerk rings up a 100.00 sale the first thing one morning and then when no one is looking he runs a Z report and then starts the day over while stealing the 100.00.  The cash drawer will balance at the end of the day.  However if you monitor the Grand Total Z, it will not balance with the previous Grand Total Z.  Store Operations has a non-resettable batch number, so if the register was "Z'd" out during the day, today's batch number would not be consecutive to yesterday's batch number."NayJo" wrote:

If GTZ does stand for Grand Total Z then the answer is yes. In RMS it is called a ZZ Report. Taken from help file - "ZZ Report -- Similar to the Z Report except that this report is a report on all the Z reports generated since the last ZZ report."
