I recently integrated RMS at my liquor store. It was suggested that I use a Matrix type for the items such as beer that are sold different ways but use the same UPC code. For instance, six packs and singles have one UPC code and are therefore a Matrix because of the different QTY and Price. The 24 pack case is sold warm and cold and therefore is a matrix because it has the same UPC but sold at a different price depending on the TEMP. The six packs and singles are children of the warm 24 pack as this is how they are made and how the original product is received.
I've read in some other topics that others are using Lot Matrix as the item type but fail to see how it would handle the situation any differently. This kind of item setup seems rather complicated and tedious. Isn't there a simpler way?
Also, as the case items is being recieved and the PO is created you have an opportunity to change the cost of the case item. However, to change the cost of the indivual matrix components, you have to go into each one and maually change the cost. Can't RMS look at the cost of the Parent, and use the quanity in the Parent/Child relationship and calculate an updated cost for the children?
Please tell me that there is a better way.
