Apr 2011 Online Banking Upgrade

I received a message (Quicken or my Bank?) as I went to update my on line banking last night informing me there might be duplicate payments appearing in my registry due to an upgrade sparked by an industry need to standardize on-line transactions. Problem is, it was late and I "accepted" from the "...cleared transaction..." list a number of transaction that were made recently. The last two I choose to accept threw duplicates into the register; that's when I read the message more clearly ... but it was AFTER I accepted these two and deleted the duplicate. I may have still erred because now ... after reading the instructions a day later...I may have deleted the wrong one. The potential downside to having done this incorrectly, as the instructions state, is that Quicken may have difficulty matching the payment if it is restored in the future. (This leaves me a tad fussy; puzzled about what's meant by "match the payment if it is restored...". Once I accept the transaction and close the file...as long as I get no error message and the file closes properly, the "match" was successful and should never be an issue in the future. No?)

Q1) Do I have a potential problem here? I'd appreciate a little better explanation and remedy if I do.

With the 35 remaining entries to match - all of which already appear in the registry - I'll follow the instructions and accept the duplicate then delete the originals. However, I noted on a few of these new entries waiting to be accepted that the comments in the comment section don't match those in my original entries. I need those original comments.

Q2) After I "accept" these new entries, can I simply copy my comments from the original, paste them in the new, then delete the old and forget about it? No repercussions in a restore routine like that referenced in the first paragraph?

I also noted the message I printed out last night was entitled "Quicken 2000/2001 Migration Message". What's more, when I went to the Intuit site for the "Trouble Shooting Quicken OFX Issues" instructions and scrolled to the "Payments/Payees" section as instructed, the list ends with Quicken 2003. I just upgraded earlier this week from Quicken HB 2008 to Quicken HB 2011.

Q3) Why would I have even gotten this message? (Though I'm obviously involved since I'm being asked to accept a number of transactions into my registry that have been cleared earlier.

since I'm being asked to accept a number of transactions into my registry that have been cleared earlier.

When I have a duplicate, I sometimes delete the downloaded transaction, and I sometimes delete the register transaction. It usually depends on if there is a memo, or other differences that I want to keep. I have never had any problem either way. As long as the transaction is recorded one time, it all should work fine.

As for the message version information, they probably used an old message form, and forgot to change the dates to the newer version of Quicken. I have seen that done in business more times than I can count.

I wouldn't worry about it, but that is me.
