Disabling adds at bottom of Q2005 P H&B???

I found this via google. Is this the only way to do this? Used to be in the [MarketingMessages] block of Quicken.ini file. (Where is the *.ini file now anyway?)

Quicken still has ads. The only way you could suppress them (in 2004 anyway) was to rename the *dat files that the ad copy pulled from.

Quicken has changed the way they've done these in 2005. While the data is still in *.dat files, if you delete them now, the program will re-create them.

Easiest way (although a bit time-consuming) is to modify the files.

Path is (assuming your operating system is on your C: drive): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Inet\Common\Alerts\fn

Open the *.dat files in Notepad and delete the information under the [DisplayData] heading.

The same files appear under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Inet\Common\Pnf\Quicken as well, so you might want to edit them there as well.

While it's a bit of work, it's kept ads from displaying for me.

What a great thing to know! Incidentally, I noticed that there are similar display ads in the *.dat files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Inet\Common\Alerts\pop\ Maybe these should be treated in the same manner.

Wonder if we could not change the display text to some personal note of our own! It would then be useful.

Is there a simple way (without actually testing each one) of knowing which

*.dat display on which screens?
