Duplicate Securities

Jan 10, 2006 2 Replies

I inadvertanly created a 2nd name for a security and downloaded a couple of transactions with it. (i.e. one is called XX and one is called XXY but both have the same ticker symbol). Both securities show up in the security list. I am using QP '05

I tried to fix it by modifying the couple of new transactions to use the old security name and then I'd delete the new one once there were no transactions. THe problem is that the old security does not appear in the drop down list, so I cannot change it.

I also cannot use Find/Replace to change securities. (In older versions of QW you could do things like that.) If I could, I could change all

200 transactions from the old name to the new one and delete the old name. I do not want to do that by hand though.

Any ideas?

Could the old security be hidden?

I don't recall any version of Quicken in which you could use Find/Replace on investment account transactions. (I only go back to Q2000 and my memory is not what it used to be).
