Import of investment transactions

Dear Group:

I have a problem with how Quicken imports transactions (via direct connect) from American Century. When I connect and download transactions, my monthly investments are imported as "Add Shares" rather than Buy using the local cash account. After the import, but in the "accept" area, I do not have the option to Invest using the local cash account. Ultimately, I have to choose "Add Shares," but then edit the transaction accordingly.

I don't have this problem with Fidelity or other accounts and experienced the same problem with Fidelity. I've finally decided to ask the question...

Any recommendations on how to resolve this?

Best regards, Jason

I'm confused. You say you don't have this problem with Fidelity or other accounts, then you say you "experienced the same problem with Fidelity." Which is it?

A while ago, I and someone else experienced some wierdnesses in how certain Vanguard transactions were recorded in Quicken (via direct download). TMK, we don't know yet whether the problem is with the data Vanguard sends or how Quicken interprets it. I talked with Vanguard tech support, and they said they would look into it and hope it's resolved by the next quarter's download, as the wierdness was with dividends and a quarterly fee. That will be the end of this month, so we'll see. BTW, my Fidelity "NetBenefits" account downloads transactions correctly.

Margaret

Oops-typo; on Fidelity (everything works fine there)...

I guess, it appears American Century tags the transaction as "ADD SHARES" rather than allocating to CASH then "BUY."

Is there a rule that can be written in Quicken to resolve this...?

Thanks, JS

I manually edited the wierdo Vanguard transactions. Fortunately there were only a few. I don't know of any way to "script" changes within Quicken.
