Hi,
I am using Quicken 2001, and one of the banks where I have a checking account now has the ability to download transactions as a QIF.
So, this weekend, I thought I'd try it.
I downloaded the QIF from the date that I had last reconciled in Quicken, and the imported into Quicken.
Then, when I went into the account in Quicken, it showed the transactions from the QIF at the bottom half, and is asking me to accept the transactions.
I accepted a couple of transactions, and also manually accepted a couple, but then I noticed that Quicken was showing the transactions as "Split", so I decided to give up on that because these transactions are not split, and I wanted the payee, etc. to just show up on the transactions.
So, I clicked "Done" and "Finish Later", and got my normal display.
I then went and Cut/deleted the transactions that had been added by the "Accepts".
I'm almost 100% that none of the transactions that I deleted had been reconciled before. There may have been duplicates added by my "Accept", but I'm pretty sure that the transactions that I Accepted were not reconciled previously.
In any event, now, I have a couple of problems:
1) Whenever I click "Reconcile", I get a popup telling me that one of the previously-reconciled months was changed.2) Whenever I go into the account, that QIF display still shows up, and I have to click "Finish Later" to get rid of it.
Re. #1, it looks like a transaction for $35.00 was somehow deleted. So, when I try to reconcile my current month, the bank statement start amount is wrong (by $35.00). If I enter the correct bank statement start amount, I can reconcile, but then everytime I go to "Reconcile", it still tells me that the previous month is in error. So, I added the deleted $35.00 transaction, and re-reconciled, but then, it still is doing the same thing.
Re. #2, is there a way to get rid of the QIF file at this point? There's a Delete button, but it's grayed out, and I don't want to use the QIF anymore.
Thanks, Jim
