Lately there are long delays when performing some operations. For example, a delay of about 7 seconds without any hourglass cursor when entering a check.
I've done a year end copy to eliminate old records, deleted unused accounts, and done a validation, but I still get the delays.

You haven't told us your version of Quicken - or of Windows. :>(
We haven't seen this complaint much lately. A couple of years ago, many users' complaints were solved when they adjusted their antivirus settings to no longer screen the Quicken application - which doesn't really do much good, anyhow.
If you tell us more about your computer, we would have a better chance to help you.
