Online Balance - Checking Account

I have a couple of questions: I'm running QD2011 and IE8.

When viewing my register for my checking account, it shows 3 balances (Online Balance, Current Balance, Ending Balance). I cannot figure out what the Online Balance is? I reviewed the account details and cannot determine where it is getting this Online Balance amount. It does not match any of my records (in Quicken or at the Financial Inst). Any thoughts on were Q is getting the amount for this Online Balance?

Second, when going to "View and pay bills on the Web...", in the past, Q would remember my User ID - now it does not for some reason? I enter the User ID and it takes me to the password page which has the proper "picture and phrase", and I enter the password and log. Question is, why does it not remember my User ID anymore? Any thoughts/suggestions?

Charliec - regarding your first question, I have three different balance values (Online, Current, and Ending) at the bottom of my checking register. All three balances are different as to be expected.

Specifically, the online balance indeed matches my FI checking account to the penny. Are you sure you did a OSU and are looking at the correct values and dates? (btw, this online balance value does NOT match any number in my actual register whatsoever, also to be expected when not all outstanding checks are cleared and I have transaction with a future date in my register already entered.)

As Andrew said, the Online Balance is supplied by your financial institution. Quicken gets that balance as a single amount supplied by the fi, each time you do a download from that financial institution. Quicken just displays what your fi downloads.

To my knowledge, that balance usually (always?) includes transactions that are "pended" (received, but not cleared) at your fi; perhaps a better name for the online balance would be "Available Balance".

If you choose to reconcile to an online balance, the "Online Balance" is the balance Quicken will reconcile to.

If you logged onto your checking account's online web site, you'd see a balance. It's the online balance and reflects the transactions the bank has seen and posted.

It does not include transactions in the past that haven't posted yet, like uncashed checks. These are included in quicken's current balance. And it doesn't include transactions in the future, like scheduled payments or deposits. There are included in the quicken final balance.

I do not have OSU Activated for this checking account - it says available, with the option to activate, but I have chosen not to. Also, the Ending reflects my check book balance which can include some future BillPay transactions, the Current reflects, the balance in the FI checking account excluding the future payments - good so far! But, then come the Online, which I cannot figure out where it is getting that number (does not match checking register balance or the FI balance.

See my reply to Andrew - it address your comments. But, still don't where the balance is from. Thanks for the reply
