Participating Financial Institutions "missing"

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this problem.

When I click "Online > Participating Financial Institutions", I do not see any financial institutions listed in the "Directory" at the lower left of the window.

Initially, the window wants to show financial institutions that offer "Any services", and none list for me. If I try "Banking account access", I also see no fi's listed. If I select "Brokerage account access" [or "401(k) account access"), I see fi's listed in the "Directory. In some versions of Quicken, I see fi's when I select "Credit/charge card access" and in some I do not see any fi's.

I have tested this with Q2002, Q2004, Q2005, Q2007 and Q2008 on one pc and with Q2008 on a different pc. The results for Q2008 are the same on both pc's; the results of the other versions differ slightly (some show credit card accounts, some do not - none show fi's for "Banking account access", all show Brokerage fi's).

Unless I have missed something, the Participating Financial Institutions are stored in the file "fidir.txt", located in the appropriate Documents and Settings folder (Windows XP, Pro SP2).

After a reinstall (I think of Q2008), I got the Banking fi's listed once ... then they "disappeared" again for all future attempts. I have used Notepad and looked in the fidir.txt files and the fi's are there. When I ask Quicken to display them, I can see them appear for just an instant on my screen, then they disappear.

Thank you for the feedback.

It appears I may just have been too impatient; I know in my tests, I waited for what I would consider a long time as far as response-time is concerned, but apparently I did not wait long enough. I just tried once more to list Banking fi's and left for a 40 minute walk ... when I got home, the Banking fi's were listed.

So I initiated another test and sure enough, in about a minute the list appeared.

What originally convinced me that the list wasn't going to appear at all, was that it did appear for a split second then disappeared. I had never noticed anything like that before, so I jumped to the conclusion that something was wrong.

Anyway, thanks again. Saved me from posting an erroneous bug report to Intuit.
