payroll module available for Quicken Deluxe 2008

If I should purchase Quicken Deluxe 2008 Version, would payroll software be included, OR, is a separate module available for purchase to use with the Quicken program?

best, Aaron

No.

Not as far as I know.

I think you are confusing Quicken with QuickBooks. Quicken does not have a payroll module but QuickBooks does.

Intuit has (or had) a payroll product called QuickPayroll which interfaced with Quicken. I believe that product has been discontinued (and isn't compatible with Windows Vista).

Intuit has a new product called Intuit Online Payroll, which I believe also interfaces with Quicken. Here's one link to Intuit Online Payroll info:

I suspect you can get more info from Intuit.

Intuit markets this version of Payroll primarily to QuickBooks users. There is little or no reference to being able to download the information into Quicken on the website. I do see reference to that option in the QuickPayroll document you posted the link to. Otherwise, I think Intuit keeps this a big secret. It also costs $25 to $39 a month so the typical quicken user might not consider this product.

My information is that Intuit Online Payroll is free for the first six months; after which it costs ~$10 per month.

And one Quicken user who checked it out, said that it downloaded to Quicken seamlessly.

If this is not true, please provide evidence.

  • Your 30 day free trial period begins when you run your first payroll. After the first 30 days, you pay the special .99 price for the next 2 months. Special .99 pricing includes 1 employee and 1 state. Additional fees apply for each additional active employee and filings in more than one state. After the first 3 months, you will automatically be charged at the then current monthly fee for the service level you have selected. The trial is available for Plus, Basic or Household versions. You may cancel at any time. This offer is for new Intuit Payroll subscribers only and cannot be combined with other offers and is valid for a limited time only. Terms, conditions, pricing, features, service and support are subject to change without notice.

More footnotes: currently the monthly pricing is $39 for Plus; or $25 for Basic; or $20 for Household for 1 employee and 1 state. If you have more than 1 employee, each additional active employee is $1.50 per month. If you file taxes in more than one state, each additional state is $12 per month. The trial is available for Intuit Online Payroll's Plus, Basic or Household versions. You may cancel at any time. This offer is for new Intuit Online Payroll subscribers only and cannot be combined with other offers and is valid for a limited time only. Terms, conditions, pricing, features, service and support are subject to change without notice.

If you can point us to the $10 deal please share it because that's not what I am seeing.

The prices I had were from probably six months ago, so it appears they have changed, though you can see that the remnant of those prices ($10) is still there ... just for a very short time period. [It's also possible that the pricing was offered for longer periods for users who had been using QuickPayroll, as the person who reported the prices had been a QuickPayroll user ... though I don't believe he ever said they were special prices just for ex-QuickPayroll users.]

The person who reported about Online Payroll was a user of the product and a Quicken user ... who did download the Online Payroll data to Quicken; so unless Intuit has since made the two products incompatible, I'm guessing you can still get the Online Payroll data into Quicken "seemlessly".

Intuit constantly changes their prices so anything is possible. And yes, it is possible that they gave former QP users a deal to convert them to the new product. Whether or not they will be able to keep that price is anyone's guess.

This is an interesting fact. I'm just surprised that nothing is mentioned on the Intuit website about this. In fact, there is little or no information concerning the ability to download into QB or Q.
