best/worst Quicken versions?

Used Quicken 1996 on a Gateway with Windows 95 for years. Upgraded to Q-2000 with no problems. Transfered all data and Q-2000 to a Dell running Windows XP with no problems. Husband wants me to use QuickBooks, but I don't like the UI or format as well as Quicken. Research seems to point to Quicken 2006 as the last year with relatively few problems. Would appreciate any input as to best/worst versions/years to upgrade to.

Besides personal expenses, husband is self-employed and we also run vacation cabins, a small hotel, and longterm rentals, so there's a lot of data to keep track of!

I have no idea how you did your research ... but, in my experience, your conclusion is wrong.

I use Q2008 Premier on a regular basis (since shortly after it was released) ... it is as reliable as any previous version of Quicken I have ever used (Q2000, Q2001, Q2001, Q2005 regularly - and Q2004, Q2006, Q2007, Q2009, and Q2010 for testing) ... and more reliable than most. [Frankly, I had more problems with Q2006 and Q2007 than with any other Quicken versions I ever used ... though I have always tended to think that most of those problems were more related to having multiple Quicken versions installed on the same machine.]

I regularly test with Q2009 and Q2010 ... and I do not see any more meaningful problems with them, than I do with Q2008.

I urge you to be extremely careful about the source of your research.

I'm using Quicken 2008 and have not had any problems with it. When it is no longer supported I will upgrade to the newest version so that I can continue to do bank downloads.

As a side note, with the type of businesses your husband has, you would be better off using QuickBooks Pro especially if you need to track A/R or A/P. Quicken just does not do a very good job managing businesses. You need a real accounting program for them.
