Can I Convert from Quicken H&B to Quicken Deluxe or Premier????

Hi. I have Quicken Home and Business 2005. I need to upgrade since they will no longer support my product. I'd like to separate out my home account from my business onto separate computers and use separate software.

Does anyone know if I can convert the Quicken H&B file to Quicken Premier or Quicken Deluxe? Then does anyone know if I can convert the business file to a different business product and if so, is Quickbooks my only option or can I go to a Peachtree product or Microsoft product?

THANKS!

You have the option of coverting to Quickbooks but things don't always translate properly. I have heard of messes being created as a result.

I think if you convert the file to Peachtree that it will create opening balances only. I don't recall that transactions get transfered.

If you want to transfer to a new program you would be better off starting a new file with 1/1/2008 and set it up properly instead of praying that your file will get converted properly.

Thanks for the information. Do you know if I can go from one Quicken product to another, i.e, Q H&B to Q Premier with my personal finances or am I going to have a mess there too?

Yes, you can.

There will be some changes, such as previous business accounts will become asset or liability accounts. And you will lose all of the Quicken "business" capabilities. But you should retain all of your data.

You can check it our for yourself: get the Quicken version you think you need, convert your data, check it out. If you don't like the results, you have 60 days to return Quicken and get your money back.
