Possible just to change the TAG?

Q2008 - can one simply change the 'tag' value in a FIND/REPLACE? The dialog box combines both as a 'Category/Tag' entry; ergo, one can't change JUST the tag. Strange...am I missing something obvious???

So if I have a:b/c and d:e/c, there doesn't seem to be an easy way simply to change them to a:b/z and d:e/z in one fell swoop.

Jonn - thank you for the reference; I didn't remember that, and I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow when I'm a little less tired than I am right now after a day of feasting. I appreciate the reply; sure to save me a lot of time.

And to you, and everyone else in the NG, I wish you all a great Thanksgiving.

OK = so I couldn't wait (!). I found your post, and it seemed promising. I do the transaction report, and if I only select ONE transaction, the edit button dropdown allows me to 'RETAG TRANSACTION(S)' fine. But if I click one or more, than that particular option is grayed out. Funny that some of the others (like CHANGE MEMO and CHANGE PAYEE) are still valid for multiple selections. Any idea what I might be doing 'wrong'??

Well it took a bit of fiddling (no doubt I was lucky when I did my test for the first post on this subject); it appears that you can not "retag" multiple transactions if one of them is a split.

Ah yes, 'tis true on my end as well. Well, I did most of them via a 'batch' change, and manually went thru 100+ other transactions. Thanks! (reason I'm interested in this, btw, perhaps for other's interest as well is to see what expenses I can reasonably claim as 'mine' vs. on behalf of others so I can get a handle on what future, potential retirement expenses might be like, by assigning tags to non-essential expenses and incomes that would not be expected in retirement.)
