I had problems printing after the updating to Release 5. When I tried to print, Quicken kept crashing with Error 7384, 7347, 7298, or 7317.
The problem was that the Release 5 changed the defaults on the printers to color - even my monochrome black & white laser printer. Changing the settings to black and white solved the problem.

I'm also running Q2005 H&B R5, and I had no such problem with the program.
My available printers are an HP4000 (B&W) and an HP2500 (color). The
4000 is direct attached and the 2500 is over the home network.I suggest that you should look for another culprit as to what CAUSED the printer config change.
