[Looks like a bit more than maintenance fixes this time.]

Quicken 2020 R25.10 Release Notes Feb 2020

Reminder: In our last release, we added a preference to automate lot assignment when accepting a downloaded sell transaction in an investment account. You can view the preference in by navigating to Edit -> Preferences -> Downloaded transactions . Select Settings for Lot assignment after investment download .

NEW: Quicken is introducing the new Quicken Bill Manager service to users of Quicken Premier and above. Quicken Bill Manager is a brand new way to pay your bills. Quicken Bill Manager features two methods of paying bills. The first is Quick Pay , a way to make payments from your checking account to your web-based billers for anything from subscription services, to insurance payments, to your credit card bill. True to its name, Quick Pay is fast, usually having your payment recorded with your biller within minutes. We have lined up over 11,000 billers so finding your biller is quick and easy. The second payment method is Check Pay , a service that works with your checking account to send payments by check to anyone with a valid address. You can pay smaller companies, services, and even individuals, straight from Quicken. You designate the payee and the amount, Quicken creates and sends the check. You don't even have to pay for postage.

Improved: Tours (Formerly QCards) has been updated with new content and visual improvements. Improved: Quicken Setup has been improved and includes new content. Improved: When you add a category to a transaction, Quicken now gives you the option to update past transactions for the same payee. Improved: Added keyboard shortcuts for changing dates. Enter w for first day of the week (Sunday). Enter k for the last day of the week (Saturday). Use < and >

to move forward or backwards seven days. Improved: Several updates to the user interface, including changes to the register defaults as well as minor text updates. Improved: Added a screen share menu option for when menus are minimized. Improved: Improved financial institution display for Add Account screen. Improved: Recent payments will now display 30 days of transactions from all sources. Improved: Added the ability to renumber securities as part of validate and repair. Improved: Added an ?affects investment performance? flag at the category level to filter transactions for the Investment Performance (IRR) Report and in the Growth of $10k graph for Deposits and Withdrawals in Investing . Improved: Added a No Securities (include cash) filter option in the Performance tab of Investments . Improved: Find and Replace can now search for blank values in fields.

Fixed: An issue in which users received an unnecessary warning message for uncategorized transactions. Fixed: A performance issue that was occurring during the add asset account process. Fixed: Resolved an issue in which the sign-in popup did not display for online services after a user changed the password using an external browser. Fixed: An issue in which the price history for some securities was not updating properly. Fixed: An issue in which users were sometimes being directed to an incorrect biller website. Fixed: An issue in which the Annual Budget Summary Balance was incorrect. Fixed: Minor text and display issues including removing an unnecessary scrollbar from the One Step Update summary window, a issue with duplicate Financial institutions appearing in the FI list, and changes to the Update Transactions button.

I use Quicken Deluxe and pay almost all my bills within Quicken, from the online center. What I do sounds almost exactly like what's described above. How do the two differ?

This a very slim description. What is it? I have 25.10 installed since this morning. I just did searches in Quicken help on Tours and QCards, and found nothing.

As I understand it, with the new feature, you can use Quicken to pay bills even if your bank does not accept billpay instructions from Quicken ... without having to manually logon to your bank's web site.

Thanks. If that's so, they've written a terrible description of it. My bank does accept billpay instructions from Quicken, so that's a useless new feature, as far as I'm concerned.

If my bank didn't accept the instructions, I would have switched banks years ago.

I just did web searches on Quicken 25.10 tours and Quicken 25.10 qcards. I found nothing. Anyone know what this is?

From the R22.12 Sept 19 release notes: New: Created Q cards tour to guide new and existing users through the use of Quicken's primary features. To take the tour, click View Tour on the right corner of the screen below your tabs.

Thanks very much. From you quote I see that it's not something I'm interested in.

Is this a controlled release. I just checked for updates and it says that my R24.14 is the latest.

Don't know. It just popped up when I started. You can grab the lastest mondo patch here:

I'm at the 25.10 level without resorting to contortions. I think I was offered the download three days ago. I imagine you should be at some point in the near future without having to Mondo-ize (that's a technical term.)

I'm just curious if anyone here is currently using, or has anyone tried using, the new Bill Manager / Quick Pay / Check Pay features that were recently introduced in Quicken for Windows R25.10? And if using it, how is it working out for you?

How to set it up is described here:

It's intended as a replacement for Quicken Bill Pay, which is being discontinued at the end of May this year, according to this:

I haven't used Bill Pay myself for quite some time, but have been thinking about giving this new Bill Manager a try.

Quicken Bill Pay is an alternative online payment service for users who do not use one of the more than 500 financial institutions that support online payment using the Direct Connect connection method and would like to be able to schedule online payments and transfers from within Quicken.  The online payment in Quicken is built on the concept of an "online payee" and supports scheduled and repeating online payments.

If you use Quicken Bill Pay and want to be able to continue to schedule recurring online payments from within Quicken after May 31, 2020, I suggest you migrate to using one of the other financial institutions that supports the online payment service because Metavante Payment Services has decided to terminate the Quicken Bill Pay service on that date.

Quicken Bill Management provides an online bill aggregation service built on the concept of an "online biller".  Quick Pay provides a service that enables us to pay these online billers from within Quicken on demand when an online bill has been recieved.  The number of Quick Pay payments is limited monthly and the payments may not be scheduled. Quick Check provides the ability to have a physical check sent to anyone in the US on demand.  The number of Quick Check sent in a month is limited and they may not be scheduled.

So, we now have additional ways we may pay some bills and send some checks from within Quicken.  Some number of Quicken Bill Pay users may find that Quick Pay and Quick Check are sufficient for their payment needs.

Thanks for the information. Not being able to schedule payments would be a non-starter for me. Is there a list of Financial Institutions that support online bill payment from Quicken using Direct Connect?

The list of financial institutions providing online payment services from within Quicken 2020 follows.  You may glean the same from the fidir.txt file Quicken maintains within the hidden \ProgramData\Quicken folder.

Thank you very much for that information! I wasn't particularly expecting to get an answer to that question. I didn't realize that file existed, but happy to find out it does. Thanks again.

...

You quote over 700 lines just to add a single line of thank you!

So what? Bandwidth, nowadays, is infinite. Time, OTOH, is not.

Good point, I blew that pretty badly. My apologies to anyone that it annoyed.

Anyone whose system chokes on a 700 line post needs to move on up from DOS 1.0

For many people, that's close to correct. But not for everyone.

Right. And for me that's the major issue. It took significant time to scroll down to the bottom of his long message to see his reply.
