Private Company Shares

How do you create an investment transaction in Quicken 2005 XG for shares in a privately held corporation? Most of the options i try to select for purchasing shares or employee share options try to look up a symbol from a publicly held company.

Thanks, Greg

You don't need to enter a symbol. Just do the buy normally and create the security with no symbol. Quicken will happily process it.

"Back in the day" I was tracking a number of things in Quicken, which didn't have stock symbols (What is the "symbol" or was, for the Spanish Peseta? The German Mark? Kuggerrands?) Had to make sure that it wasn't looking for Stifel Financial Corp when I meant Swiss francs (SF) Still works that way

Just create a symbol. Quicken won't be able to find any information about it, and will complain about it, but "tough noogies".
