Problem with QW2005

May 01, 2005 1 Replies

I've been a Quicken user since, well, lets just say I've been through many, many upgrades. One of the things I've never had to worry about was the integrity of the data within Quicken. It has always been consistent.

Lately though, I'm beginning to question that. I've had a Checking account that I've been manually reconciling for many years. All of a sudden with the latest statement, there is a difference in the opening balance.

I went back several months only to discover that the account - which has reconciled perfectly in the past - is nowhere near a good reconcile. Heck, I went back to 1998 and there was still an opening balance issue.

So, I went to a backup file, and started tracing back the account. Transactions that had been previously reconciled were now missing! Paychecks, checks, etc - these were reconciled transactions that were now nowhere to be found.

I ran a validate on the account - no issues found.

Nobody else has been in the file.

Any ideas on how this may happen?

Thanks,

Mike

Is it possible that those missing transactions have some incorrect early dates on them, like the wrong year?

Press CTRL-HOME to go to the top of the register and see if anything looks "wrong".
