Q 2016 - One useability issue fixed

I have noticed that Q 2016 has fixed at least one complaint I had as did others. In Q 2015, when one typed in a payee name if one had autocomplete turned on, the drop down box would cover what you were typing, making it difficult to correct errors as you couldn't see exactly what you were typing.

Now that appears fixed, as the drop down box no longer cover the payee field where one is typing.

Sweet, as I was always annoyed at this over the past release or so when this usability bug first appeared.

Any problems in installing Q2016 over Q2015? I'm running Q2015 Deluxe on Win7. Any problems downloading transactions from financial sites? How about Online Payments - is everything retained and usable in Q2016.

Any other insights/tips one should be aware of when updating? Thanks charliec

I can't be sure, but I doubt it. I had no problems installing Q2016 over Q2014

I was running Q2014 on Windows 10.

No.

Yes.

I just did my usual backups of the data, and installed Q 2016 over existing Q 2015 on my Win 7 PC. Nothing went wrong EXCEPT that the update process did seem to get hung up at the end. I waited for an hour, and finally killed the task. When I restarted Q, it did indeed say I was on R3, so I assume that all is well.

Nothing seems broken, including downloading FI transactions.

(I'm much more concerned on my in-place Win 10 installation I got to do something this month hoping my old HP LaserJet 1320 will still function, but that's a whole different story. This Q thing was a piece of cake, as was TurboTax for t/y 2015 as well.)

Hi Andrew, Thanks for sharing that information. It's almost worth the upgrade just to correct that annoyance (which seemed to appear about 1yr. ago in my Q15). I am curious as to whether you notice any improvement in the functioning of the shortcut keys (CTRL + D, CTRL + Z, CTRL + M, etc). That has my biggest headache with the newer versions of Quicken. Thanks, JD

No JD, I don't use those particular shortcuts so I don't know. If you'd like to tell me what register to be and and what keystrokes to enter, I am certainly able to do that and let you know what happens. I do know know what your issue is with them as they work, so let me know what to look out for and I'll be happy to give it a try and report back.

Not all users experience problems with shortcuts, so just because someone says they do not have shortcut problems does not mean that shortcut problems no longer exist. But for those users that have had shortcut problems, I do not believe they have all been 100% fixed - some Q2016 users are reporting shortcut problems. And I suspect that it will be some time before shortcuts are fully back to normal for all users.

My Quicken 2015 just updated to Release 9 and it also has FINALLY corrected that bug.
