question regarding paycheck setup

Quicken 2003 Dlx on XP Pro

Trying to setup a regular paycheck (Cashflow, Banking Activities, Set Up Paycheck), to replace my usual practice of entering a paycheck as a simple deposit with splits. When I select "Add pre-tax deduction", then select "401(k)/403(b)/457", then open the drop down list for "Account", my 401k account (long ago set up) is not listed. But if I select "Pre-Tax Deduction" then "Flex Spending", the Account drop down list DOES include my 401k.

What's going on here?

See your earlier question where you said you setup your 401k account before Quicken offered a specific 401k account. When you finish setting up your new 401k account, it should be available for a 401k deduction.

Ah, I see. Yes, this particular account is an older one that I had set up as a simple asset account.

This particular account is over six years old. Given that, if I wanted to replace it with a properly designated 401k account, the easiest way would be to set up the new account, then do a one-time transfef of the entire account balance. Of course, I'm talking about the Quicken accounts -- not the actual financial institution accounts.
