quick way to enter series of checks

I just manually entered a line item with each of the check numbers....

Checks are so 19th century. Get yourself one of those credit cards which has NO fees but pays YOU back a percentage of your purchases. Probably only .001 per cent of my transactions are by check. So passé!

Are the checks ones that were written and not recorded? If so, you will have to wait until the checks clear and you'll have nothing to match against. If not, when you find them, just use them. Quicken will automatically adjust the next check number.

We seemed to have misplaced a booklet of 30 checks....

Happen to notice this as my wife tends to accidently skip checks while she quickly fumbles to write one at the grocery store.

Ran the missing check report - and noticed her random misses. But - also noticed an entire 30 check booklet appears missing.

I'd like to enter all these checks into the register, so if they ever get downloaded - I'll see it as a mis-match. Suggestions... vs brute force of typing 30 individual check entries..

BTW - it turned out my wife grabbed a packet of checks out of order - so it appeared they were "missing"... UNTIL - one just popped up, and it matched the DUPLICATE entries I had manually entered... So, just deleted all the manual entries I had just entered :)

Spammers hardly ever see look for replies to their spam, so you probably won't see this. But for others here who may not realize it, let me say that one of the biggest advantages of using Quicken is that you hardly ever have to write checks any more. For me, I pay one vendor in cash and one by check; almost everything else is now electronic.

Ken, how much are you paying Quicken/Intuit every month to pay those bills and do you still have to spend time EVERY MONTH activating the payments or have you joined the 21st century and automated everything, as I have? P.S. I don't pay one cent in service charges to Quicken or the bank.

Most of my payments *are* automated, and I have to do nothing. But not everything can be automated.

Good to hear it! I find it absolutely amazing how many people are STILL lining up at the bank to pay bills or dicking around with checks, envelopes, and stamps! People like us must be saving hundreds of hours a year, never again having to do that drudgery. The best of the season to you.
