I have been using Quicken for personal use for more than ten years. I have also been using QuickBooks for business use for several years. In order to simplify things, I am considering using only QB for both, by setting up a separate "company" for my personal, non-business, life. What would be the disadvantages of doing this? In other words, what might be the advantages of continuing to use Quicken for personal use?
QuickBooks for personal use, instead of Quicken?

If you don't have any investments then either QuickBooks or Quicken would work for you.
One thing to check before switching your personal books over to QuickBooks is whether or not your bank supports downloads into QuickBooks and if they do is there a cost. Many banks started charging for bank downloads into QuickBooks but have left downloads into Quicken free.
