IIRC, in the past when purchasing the Quicken download, you were charged shipping and tax, and you still had to send in the rebate form to get $20 back. This year, there's no shipping charge on the download, although they do still charge tax. But they deduct the $20 rebate, so you don't have to fill out the paperwork and send it in. This is making me think twice about waiting a few days to buy it in the stores.

Understood. Rebates can be problematic... However, in the past 10-15 years, I've never, ever, had a problem with rebates from Intuit. Their latest on-line applications with automatic deposit into checking accounts can be amazingly fast.....
Obviously, it's up to the individual buyer what constitutes enough of a savings to warrant the "hassle" of getting shrink wrap packages and submitting rebate applications.... There's no "right" answer, only what's best for you............
