Quicken 2008 & Windows7 64 bit

I am running Windows7, 64 bit (on a Mac, under Parallels if that matters) and would like to know if I can get Quicken 2008 Premier to run.

I would not have gotten Windows7 if I could find an adequate alternative on the Mac side. I do plan to get Quicken 2011, but am hopeful I can use 2008 for a couple of months.

I have one Quicken file I wish to import/load from a 32 bit Vista machine. I will be creating another file from scratch on the Windows7 machine.

I did notice a thread on Quicken 2008 and Windows7 on August 27th, but that thread did not specify if the Win7 was 32 or 64 bit.

Thank you and do have a nice day.

Hi, Gordon.

Quicken doesn't care about the "bitness" of Windows.

I've never used a Mac, so there may be peculiarities I don't know about, but I've been running Quicken versions on Windows x64 versions (WinXP, Vista and now Win7 Ultimate) ever since about 2005. There may be other problems, but bitness ain't one of 'em. ;

RC - just want to be sure,

#1 Have you run Quicken 2008 on eithe 64 bit version of Vista or Win7?

#2 Is it necessary/useful to install as you described in your 8/27 post?

The major reason I asked, is that 8/27 thread did not specifiy 32 or

64 bit

#3 Almost afarid to as here -- but have you run into any problems that are apt to hit most users?

Not R. C. here, but I ran Quicken 2008 Home & Business on a 64-bit Vista Ultimate HP desktop without problems related to 32 vs. 64.

Both Intuit and Microsoft say Quicken Home & Business (2008. 2009 &

2010) all run under W>Not R. C. here, but I ran Quicken 2008 Home & Business on a 64-bit Vista

Gordon,

I just upgraded my current machine from XP Pro 32 bit to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I reinstalled Quicken 2008 Premier, loaded my existing data file from my memory stick, and was off to the races. No issues whatsoever on an actual AMD dual-core Windows machine.

Can't speak to whether any emulation/multi-system on non-Intel/AMD might encounter though.

I'm running win7 32 bit and was not able to get 2008 H&B to work properly. It installed okay but was not successful in getting it to update properly. Look for an 4/4/10 thread for more info. Granted I did bother to do the extra steps suggested. I decided to just leave the Q file & program on my XP machine instead.

Hi, Gordon.

Perhaps the easiest way for me to answer this is to paste in a message that I posted here on 10/12/2007. See the full paste following my Sig. (I'm using the latest beta version of Windows Live Mail 2011, which does NOT do a good job of identifying quoted material, so you'll have to read with care.)

Then skip down to see my answers to your specific questions...

I have run Quicken 2008 Premier on Vista 32 bit and am now running it on Windows 7 64 bit, both without problems, did not take any unusual installation steps.
