Quicken 2009 Premier Problem

I just installed Quicken 2009 Premier, let it upgrade itself to R3, and let it convert my existing 2008 file to its new format.

The result was catastrophic. The last month or so of the transactions were gone, and a new credit card account that I had added was gone.

So I restored my backup, which I had made just before installation of the 2009 version. It installed it, converted it to the new format, and fixed the problems I mentioned above.

I had some similar problems with Quicken 2008, when I installed upgrades to it, and that was the main reason I bought 2009. Is the same true with 2009? Is it perhaps a problem with my data file, rather than with the software? Might it happen again the next time there's a software upgrade to 2009? Is there a good way to fix the problem?

Suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Hi, Ken.

Bummer!

I'm sorry the upgrade gave you problems. As I reported earlier, the upgrade from Q2008D to Q2009D was the smoothest migration I've had in nearly 20 years (since 1990) of using Quicken and updating every year or two.

May be. Or maybe with the location of the file, rather than with its contents. Which OS are you using? Where do you store your Quicken data? Do you let Quicken/Vista choose the default location? It may appear to be in a \Program Files subfolder, but that may be only a "virtual folder" location, with the actual file elsewhere, like in your \Users\Ken folder tree. (I'm not sure of the default location since I use my E;\QuickenW folder.)

The upgrade to 2009 didn't give me any problems, as far as I can tell. I think it was the upgrade to R3 of 2009 that did something to my data file. Again, the reason I think so is that I was having similar problems with version upgrades in 2008.

Vista Ultimate.

The same place it's always been: F:\Program Files\Quicken

Note that I have no C: and F: is the first hard drive, the one Windows is installed on.

Yes.

Nope, it's a real folder.
