Quicken 2011 missing price history for only one security

Nov 30, 2013 5 Replies

I have a single preferred stock holding that is missing any price history. I bought it in July 2013. I edited the price history file directly and it is empty. I tried to add an entry and it did not take, as far as I can se e. Portfolio view has a blank for the security price and a little icon whi ch, if hovered over, says "never updated". I deleted the buy for this st ock and reentered it. No change. How can I fix this? I have many othe r holdings and this is the only one with a problem

Never mind. I found the solution in another user's post here. It involves changing the stock symbol, deleting the price history and renaming the stoc k back to the original. Thanks to all who have gone before me into the mys teries of Quicken :)

The problem originates in corrupted data from Quicken's supplier of security prices. Quicken versions prior to Q2012 did not expect such corruption, and were not equipped to handle it.

Starting with Q2012, such problems have virtually disappeared.

I wish they did disappear, but apparently not. I have Q2012 H&B, and I have just experienced the same issue. Two securities' price histories are trash ed. In fact I just discovered that the issue gets worse as I progress throu gh several recently backed up revisions of the data file.

have not gotten any prices. I have had these 2 for over 15 yrs in Quicken
