Quicken 6

Top of the evening,

I am still using Quicken 6 from about 10 years ago.

I would like to upgrade to a new version of something similar to this. I do not use it except to maintain several checking/saving accounts and do not need any advanced planning applications, $20 Version or less is what I am looking for.

I am worried that my back files that I would use to import the existing files would not be accepted into the Newer version. I downloaded their "Free Trial" and was installing when a cute message popped up that said that it did not convert and was used for only new accounts or ones that were just starting.

I guess the question to the group is "What are my options?"

Also the larger of the back-up files is an .qdb

thanks to all and hope you have a great evening.

You were trying too hard to save a few bucks; you got the "New User" version, which, as its name implies, is only for first time users since it will not convert data from older versions.

You need at least Quicken "Basic".

It's very possible that even Q2007 Basic will not be able to successfully convert your data since your current Quicken version is so old. If that is the case, Intuit offers what they call "trial versions" of intermediate versions of Quicken to allow you to do the conversion in two steps. Those "trial versions" for converting are free.

You can read about it here:

But you should call tech-support; conversion issues like yours are free of charge.

New User Edition [NUE] of QW Basic. NUE will not convert any earlier file-set. It is a 'starter' version - i.e., start from scratch. You will need a regular version of at least QW Basic.

Sounds like Basic will fit your needs. Would recommend Deluxe if you are tracking a 401k Account.

Check eBay for QW packages - very likely you can find a version that fits your target price.

Here is a link on upgrading/converting from early versions - may or may not be applicable to your situation: Very early editions require an intermediate version to complete the upgrade process as described.
