Quicken Online - to end 8/29

You stated it perfectly R.C.

The "cloud advantage" is offset by the fact that you no longer control YOUR data. Simply look at RIM caving in to various governments making what were supposed to be "secure" communications available for "terrorist activity review." They've touted their security to businesses for years. Fortunately, for now, all my Blackberry users stay in this country. That's great because AT&T and other wireless carriers were crucified recently for turning over customer information to the federal govenment for "national security" reasons.

Let's not forget Facebook's recent forays into "preserving" personal data even after the user deleted it and then trying to convince people it was no longer their property.

And Google's nefarious attempts to have their drive by camera cars eavesdrop on unsecured wireless networks. And the list goes on.... and on.... and on.

Needless to say we all lost most privacy years ago when the horse was first let out of the barn in the early on-line days. However, I also have no desire to contribute my personal data, whether people tell me no one could possibly care about looking at it or not, to a "cloud" not controlled by me.

I guess you and I are just too old and cynical to be as trusting as some folks.

ab-so-lude-lee... why would anyone use cloud for primary use or for that matter backups... better to have all your data on your own PC along with backing it up on external hard drives or disks.. leaving any type of info to the mercy of 'cloud' companies is just crazy... even if it's free...

I would think because Quicken is Quicken ... they.. Intuit... made it relevent when they pushed for people to try their online services thus integrating both forms of Quicken... so Quicken Online does have to do with Quicken...
