Is there a better way of refining categories than what I'm doing here? I have a few where entries can fall through the cracks so-to-speak when I print a report of total expenses. Here's an example: Food is the main category but subheadings are Food:In and Food: Out and Food:Guest. If I slip up and record a Food:Out entry as simply Food, I won't find my mistake until I run a report that happens to contain all three. There's nothing to coach me when I make the Food entry. These categories are many years old. I apparently thought at the time that it would be helpful to have selected categories broken down like this so I could get aggregate and detailed figures if I ever wanted them. Maybe there's better way of doing this now in Quicken H&B 2005. Comments. suggestions.
