Reporting Options

I'm using Quicken 2003 and can't figure out any way to create reports that will mirror some Merrill Lynch reports which have been "improved".

ML tallies things into the following categories (varies with the report): Cash/Money Fixed Income Equities Mutual Funds

or Cash/Money Securities and Other Assets CDs/Equivalents

As far as I can tell, it isn't possible. Since it is Quicken 2003, I can export the transactions to a QIF file and use another program to categorize things, but that's a pain.

So, two questions:

  1. Is there some way to do this in Quicken 2003?
  2. Are the reporting options in Quicken 2006 more flexible?

As far as I know, you can't change Quicken's asset classes, but there are other parameters you can control: Security Type and Investing Goal.

You can use one of these, enter ML's categories, and then run a report on it.
