Requiring Classes for transactions

I have a nice configuration of catagories i use when rehabbing houses, about 30 catagories in all

i use classes to track the houses but was wondering if there was a way to have quicken force me to enter in a class for certain catagories. i noticed i had entered a few transactions without classes

No way I know of. I looked for an Alert that would warn you, but couldn't find one either.

The only thing I can think of is a report or graph that would tell you that you have some unclassed transactions. I don't know what version of Quicken you are running, but in Q2005 and Q2006 it is easy to specify what classes you want to appear in graphs and reports.

You could setup a report - say the Banking Transaction report - to show only transactions with no class (for what ever categories you are concerned about) and put an icon to run that report on your Quicken toolbar.

You might also be able to use the Income/Expense bar graph that is available for the Quicken Home Page; you could have that customized to display only unclassified transactions for your categories of choice and tell Quicken to put it in a prominent place on your Home page.
