Rounding in downloaded transactions

(Q2003 Basic, Q2000 Basic before that) The brokerage houses I deal with calculate mutual fund and stock share purchases to 3 decimal places. Dollar amounts and share prices are fixed at 2 decimal places, and the number of shares is rounded to the nearest .001.

When I download transactions, Quicken almost always refuses to accept them "as written", usually adjusting the dollar amount by a penny or two either way. Usually I catch this and correct the dollar amount, and Quicken recalculate the share price to 6 places. But sometimes I don't catch it, and my cash balance will be wrong by a penny or two - AND Quicken fails to warn me that my Q holdings and actual holdings aren't in agreement (as I thought it was supposed to).

How can I eliminate these problems?

Your FI is not making it easy to do it the right way is it?

When you find a mismatch, locate the transaction(s) causing the problem and change the total amount to make the correct transaction value. When Quicken says the amounts don't add up, let it change the price.
