I found the answer to my problem about sales of ETF's not appearing in the Tax Planner. I have that security listed as "tax free" in the Security Details--which it is because the fund is a muni bond fund. Unchecking that box then shows the sale in Tax Planner. I guess one must change that designation depending on whether one wants to find taxable earnings or capital gains.
