Bank of America Update Q2004

I'm getting duplicate check numbers generated by Bank of America after the Bank of America from Fleet update. I show new payments with check numbers starting with 5001, 5002, 5003 etc...these check numbers were used in the year 2000 which I still have in my check register. I called Bank of America and they said to send a email through Q2004 requesting that they change the sequence to say 6000, 7000 etc... Is this the correct way to handle this?

Clearly not. BoA just like to piss customers off further by giving them incorrect instructions over the phone. The correct way to get the check numbers changed is to sacrifice a chicken on a night when the full moon is high in the sky.

I'm having the same problem -- hope that you find a solution you can share.

Another frustration -- I've recently discovered that the BofA check payment numbers bear no relationship to the number on the check that they send to the payee. So, tracking lost payments is impossible without involving BofA.

I haven't gotten a reply back yet to my email I sent to the bank through Q2004. I'll wait a couple of more days and then I call the bank.

OK, here's the scoop. I called Bank of America and talked to their Quicken tech support. This rep did some research instead of just transferring me to another dept. The check number sequence can be changed and Bill Pay can do this but you need to request it. Research your check numbers in Quicken first before calling, To find dup check numbers, select one checking account and then enter "Edit" >

Find & Replace > "Find" and then change the "search" criteria to check number, change "Match If" to Starts with and finally Find to "xxxx" where xxx is your starting check number, next click "Find All" instead of just Find because I found multiple dup checks in different accounts.

The number to call and the people who changes this is Bill Pay the number is 1-800-933-6262

Just made a few on-line payments trhu Q2004 and when I did a Update/Send the check numbers showed the new check sequencing numbers.
