Unable to successfully change lot allocations for stock sales more than 2 years ago

I have had a managed stock investment account for eight years, which I have been tracking on Quicken (currently Q 2015 Premier) by downloading the buy /sell transactions each month. In this "managed" account, a specific stock is frequently purchased (and sold) several times, in small purchase amount s. I now want to change the "lots sold" in some of the sell transactions i n Quicken so they match the lots sold in the record of the investment compa ny. I have found I can successfully change the lots specified in transacti ons within the last two years. However I have not been able to successfull y correct sell transactions older than two years. Quicken allows me to ent er the change but the actual lots get screwed up. Anyone have any insight on how to do this for sell transactions more than two years old?

I'd be inclined to run a file validate on a copy of the file and choose the Rebuild lots option. You should be able to respecify any lot assignments, with the obvious qualification that you can't sell the same lot twice. So similarly, I'd be inclined to rework the oldest sales first, moving forwar d in time from those.
