Vanguard MM Sell Transaction

I'm in the process of switching from manually entering Vanguard money market transactions to downloading them into a new investment account. Using Q2006D with a single Vanguard fund (MM) in a multiple mutual fund account with no linked cash account.

I noticed that a Vanguard MM sell transaction (wrote a check to pay a bill) increments the Cash Amount on the Transaction tab. Since this is only a MM account, I assume the cash balance should be zero. Therefore, how do you all deal with the cash amount for a sell transaction? Any other solutions that Alan's below?

Alan replied in an earlier topic that he uses a dummy linked cash/checking account that has a balance of zero. I'm guess that Alan would change the "To" to the linked cash/checking account. This would make the cash balance zero in the Vanguard account. However, the linked cash/checking account would have a balance in the amount of this last transaction. I wonder if Alan makes a manual entry in the linked cash/checking account to bring the balance back down to zero.

If you noticed that, you should have seen the cash balance was a negative dollar amount. When the check is presented to Vanguard for payment they will sell an equal amount of the fund for cash which will zero out the cash. At least it works that way in Q2005D.
