Investment Account Bank Fee

I'd like to record a low balance fee into an investment account (only money market security; no linked cash account; single mutual fund=no). This entry is part of re-creating history that wasn't downloaded. I tried adding a MiscExp action but that makes the cash balance non-zero (it should always be zero since the money is always in the investment account).

In addition to the MiscExp, enter a Sell from the mm fund for the amount of the fee.

Okay, I'll give that a try.

Another investment account question. Is it better to have a linked cash account to the investment account (money market only) or a non-linked account? I'm asking because I think I need to create a "dummy" account to record deposits (via a separate checking account) and withdraws.

Not sure I can answer that for you. I do not use any linked accounts and I don't have any trouble recording the transactions I need; but your situation may be different. Newer versions (for sure in Q2005, but I think also in Q2004) of Quicken allow you to write checks and make "withdrawal" and "deposit" transactions in investment accounts.

Yes, adding a "sold" transaction brought my cash balance down to zero.

I'm new to investment accounts, but not having a linked cash account ( and no dummy account) seems to do everything I need for now. Using Q2006D.

For now, I think all my investment account questions have been answered. Thank-you all for responding. This is a great community.
