T.Rowe - zero bal account + last transaction

Last week I exchanged all the money from one T.Rowe mutual fund to another of my existing TRP funds. Interestingly, the last transaction was never received/posted by Quicken. For that single account - TRP would return a Quicken error, as if the account no longer existed.... vs just reporting a zero balance. BTW - I can still see the account listed (as zero) in my accounts at the TRP website.

I had to go to the T.Rowe website and find the last transaction history info for price & shares, and then add that transaction to Quicken. I checkmarked on "sell all shares", which zeroed the account, but wanted the entry to also contain the correct dollar amount of the last sell transaction.

Hi Phil,

I've noticed that with both vanguard and price, if you've ever been in a fund, they'll show it as part of your account but with zero balance. I'm not sure why.

I just try to update yahoo based upon either the closing or the history.

peace,

Vanguard says that zero-balance funds go away eventually, but only after there have been no transactions for a year or so. Keeping the fund around makes it possible for you to check on previous transactions, and gives them a place to keep the data they need to send you a 1099 form after the end of the year.
