401(k) Account & Incorrect Security Value

I have a 401(k) account in Quicken 2006 that is showing an incorrect security value and I'm hoping someone can help me solve the problem. The account has been in balance (agreeing with my quarterly statements) for as long as I've had it setup. I recently changed jobs and rolled over the 401k to an IRA account. The rollover occured in between statements, but I went online and printed all of the transactions that had occured since my last statement. I entered these transactions into the Quicken 401k account via "Add Shares" and then proceeded to "Sell" all holdings in this account, transferring the remaining cash to my new IRA account in Quicken. Everything seemed to work smoothly, however, on the Summary tab under Account Status, Quicken is still showing a security value of 2 cents. This, despite the fact that Quicken shows no holdings for this account.

It's a small sum, but I don't like loose ends. Any idea what is causing a 2 cent security value to show up even though the account doesn't have any holdings?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Charles

Charles, this is a pretty common problem, and you did nothing wrong.

Any mutual fund reports transactions in $ to 2 decimal places (cents) and shares to 3 decimal places. This is not always quite precise - the arithmetic may require more decimal places for "shares(3dp) x price(2dp) = $$(2dp)"

Hence, an "adjustment" or "commission" of a couple of cents is sometimes needed for transactions.
