Repeat SOS re Q2005 inability to offer print option

My earlier request for help received no response. Trying again. My Q2005 R5 Basic suddenly stopped offering me a printer dialog box on Printer Setup>Reports & Graphs. Instead mssg "Unable to verify active printer at the system level. Please verify....." All other programs I use print as normal--problem only with Quicken. Windows XP--HP5510 and BJ-200 printers-- How to tweak Q program?? Appreciate help. Thanks Phil Rose snipped-for-privacy@dc.rr.com

Tell us what all you have tried already? Like, have you uninstalled/reinstalled Quicken? Have you deleted/reinstalled your printers?

And, what is the Windows name of the printer?

Hoping solution would be a single corrupted file to replace, but I've Uninstalled and Reinstalled up to R5. Still get the same "Unable to verify...." Uninstalled and reinstalled printer as well. Windows reads the printer as HP OfficeJet 5500 series (but not with Q program currently). Possible that a Windows XP resource is locking printers? Much appreciated.

Your problem is probably out of my league, but what happens if you delete all your windows printers and reinstall them? (And avoid installing any that you no longer use).

This may help - I can't know definitively as I'm Q2003 and don't have a printer problem but... I put your quoted expression into a google search and got some hits in the intuit forums. Some successful fixes were reported and one of them seemed to be, with quicken closed, finding and renaming wpr.dat then starting quicken. You could try that or redo the search. Geo.

Tried renaming wpr.dat, no difference. Even tried copying and using the wpr.dat file off my laptop's QuickenW file and it didn't change anything. Tried John's suggestion to remove and replace updated drivers--no change there either. But my other programs, and Device Mgr indications are all A-OK. Still at sea... Phil

I am having the same problem with Q2005 Premier, OS Windows XP Home w/SP2. "When I try to Print anything in Q or to access file/printer set up. I get the 'Unable to verify active printer at the system level. Please verify..." I tried the fix from Intuit regarding the name of the printer containing "on". My printer is a Canon i70 so changed it to C i70. Didn't work, either with Quicken open or closed, - I am the administrator and only user. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken. Didn't work. Updated the printer driver - didn't work. Tried to restart notebook in Safe Mode but Quicken Install Shield wouldn't run. The printer works fine with any other program. I have emailed Quicken but no answer. I've wasted money calling Support previously through the years - I've used Quicken since 1989, so I'm not inclined in that direction.

Sharon, I share your grief. Nothing I've tried has resolved the issue. I'll try to send you the correspondence I've had directly with Bob Engler. His suggestion didn't work either but it may help in your case. Oh, would that there were another program worthy of switching... Phil
