Vista

Does anyone know if Quicken 2005 will work with Vista?

Hi, Cal.

It worked with the early beta of Vista - but that was over a year ago.

I've used Q05, Q06 and Q07 with each Vista beta build (both 32-bit and

64-bit) and with the final Vista RTM. No problems (until I tried to update Q07 Basic to R3 - as I've reported in another thread here, that problem is still unresolved.)

You should have no problems with Q05 and Vista, especially 32-bit Vista.

Hi R.C.,

I perused the thread you mention here. Forgive me if my suggestion is redundant, but have you, from Programs and Features, tried repairing the QB install, or perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling Q altogether? I have found that this has helped when having release update issues with QBP06 (although I now use QBP07).

My issues all took place in x86.

I should have mentioned *Vista* x86 (various builds and RTM).

Hi, James.

I just posted an update in that thread. My problem is solved, for now, but I'm back to R1 (not even R2) and Q07B in Vista x64 still refuses to update to R3.

The problem seems to be only with Vista x64 and Quicken 2007. Nobody has reported a problem with x86, and I was able to update it a few days ago by dual-booting into Vista x86 and running Quicken there. It updated smoothly in x86. Then I rebooted into x64 - and that's when everything hit the fan. It worked ONCE (Q07B R3 in Vista x64), but then Quicken would not even start again. It took me two days of trying everything I could think of, including uninstalling Quicken - but then it refused to reinstall. :>(

My theory is that Intuit's programmers don't understand 64-bit as well as they think they do. :>(
