Where is the "Manual Match" option

Jul 31, 2010 10 Replies

I'm probably being dense but I cannot find Manual Match. I've searched and searched.

I'm using Quicken 2010.

Thanks, Joe

It's in the downloade transaction window. Highlight a transaction, and click the edit button, or so. More here (should be 1 line):

Yeah, I read that article. When looking at the transaction registry, there is no "Downloaded Transactions" tab. When I click Edit there is no "Manual Transaction" option.

Thanks, Joe

Here is a picture of what I see. I cut out personal data.

Try right clicking on the selected downloaded transaction. Then select maually match or match manually.

I don't get those choices. I get the same menu as in the picture I posted.

This is probably a little more info than you need but you will probably need to what Option 2 says.

Register Tool Bar options

Option 1

Go to Edit – Preferences – Quicken Preferences or if your in the Register go to Account Actions and down to Quicken Preferences

Then go to Register and make sure there is a check mark in the box where it says Show Transaction Tool Bar

This will Add or Remove the Enter – Edit – Split from the register

Option 2

To make sure that your transactions are not automatically entered open your register - click on Account Actions - go down to Register Preferences - click on Downloaded transactions and if there is a check mark in the box next to "Automatically add ... ' remove it. Also remove the check mark where it says "Hide accepted transactions ..."

This will also Add or Remove the Transaction Download Toolbar which shows Downloaded Transactions and Bill and Income Reminders

Yep, that was it. Thank you very much.

Under the "online balance" etc I have tabs for "downloaded transactions" and "Bill and income reminders".

You want to open the downloaded transactions as if you're going to match downloaded transactions.

I guess that's the problem.

It appears you have the option to "Automatically add downloaded transactions to register" selected (I think that is the default for new users). See Edit > Preferences > Quicken Preferences > Downloaded Transactions.

If you have had Quicken automatically add downloaded transactions to your register, you can still do a manual match, but the technique is differerent.

Notice the register transactions that have a small pencil or calendar icon below their transaction dates. The pencil icon means not-downloaded/not-cleared. The calendar means much the same thing, except it is a transaction generated from your Bill and Income Reminders List (rather than manually entered).

You can click on either of those type icons and be offered the chance to "Match to a downloaded transaction".

[You can hover the cursor on those icons to see what the represent. As I recall, the small blue dot is a downloaded transaction.]
