Thanks, I was looking for that. It's under file/file operations/year end copy. I had been looking for archive! BTW, the back up file is NOT password protected, although the active file was and is. I had to add the password.

I have been using Q99 (and previous versions back to '92) for a long time and all my previous years' files are, by default, password protected with the same password as my current file. I took no special action to add that feature. sounds like a bug on your version.
