Filing 4868 on line?

Apr 02, 2009 1 Replies

I will be getting refunds this year, but will not be able to file by 4/15.

I was able to get an extension on line for NYS, but don't see anything like that for my Federal return. (Taxcut allows me to efile my return for free, but charges $20 for an extension!)

Any suggestions, or do I put her in an envelop?

Mail works good at 42 cents per ounce.

FYI: There may not be any penalty for not filing an extension for your return. The IRS will still refund any overpayment amount if the return is filed within 2 years. After 4-2011 you might lose it.

There may be other reasons to file an extension though, so best to send it in.
