Form 8606 again

I did the same thing as you. I received a letter from the IRS saying that they would append the 8606 to my 1040. Unless I misread it, there was no indication that I needed to do anything more; it was basically just an acknowledgement that they received it.

That's really weird. I guess I'll try calling them again and seeing if there's some way for them to do as they did for you.

I remember seeing a story about a study done about IRS responses. A long set of questions was developed. The IRS was called and asked each question (as I recall) six times on six different phone calls. On the average the callers received six different answers, none of which were completely correct.

Just a quick followup. I finally got a letter from the IRS saying that the form 8606 was added to my return and all is well (no further action is required).
